Royal Air Maroc: Special flights will be in its program for the month of January
After the extension of the closure of Moroccan borders until January 31, 2022 and the cancellation of all scheduled international flights, the airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) announced on Friday evening the programming of special flights to five countries.
The repatriation system for foreigners stranded in Morocco will continue beyond December 31, 2021, contrary to what was previously announced by the Moroccan Airports National Office (ONDA). Exceptional flights from Morocco will be set up and will continue to repatriate foreigners to their countries.
These Royal Air Maroc flights, scheduled between January 1 and 31, exclusively concern four European countries and one African. These are France, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Mauritania.
We inform our Customers that exceptional flights (subject to exceptional authorization) from Morocco and to Belgium, Spain, France, Italy and Mauritania are scheduled between January 01 and 31, 2022.
However, thousands of Moroccans are currently stranded far from their homes, following the removal of the device concerning them since Thursday, December 23. Currently, no announcement has been made on the resumption of special repatriation flights to Morocco.
With the appearance of the first covid cases carrying the new Omicron variant, it is likely that the repatriation scheme for Moroccans will not resume quickly.
The Moroccan government’s decision to close the border is provoking strong criticism, especially in the tourism sector, the most affected by the suspension of regular flights and maritime links.
